Designer Dog Bed Dupes Your Dog (and Your Living Room) Will Love
Orthopedic bolster dog beds that look good and support your pet, for less. What to look for, plus current picks.
A good dog bed should support your pet and still look great in your home. Designer pet beds can cost hundreds, but many orthopedic bolster beds deliver the same comfort and style for much less.
What to look for
- Supportive foam. Memory foam or orthopedic foam helps older dogs and larger breeds. Check that the base is thick enough that your dog can't feel the floor.
- Bolsters. Raised sides give dogs a place to rest their heads and help anxious dogs feel secure.
- A removable, washable cover. This is essential. Bonus points for a waterproof liner.
- A non-slip base keeps the bed in place on hard floors.
Getting the size right
Measure your dog from nose to tail while they're lying stretched out, then add a few inches. If your dog likes to sprawl, size up.
Make it look designer
Choose neutral, textured fabrics such as bouclé, faux shearling or woven covers in cream, oatmeal or grey. They blend in with your furniture and hide fur better than you'd expect.
